Why did POWEReasy trip?
The site has observed a high earth leakage current event. IS12640 that 30mA is unsafe for single phase operation and 100mA is unsafe for 3 phase operation. The POWEReasy system typically disconnect supply to prevent any individual from experiencing an electrical shock.
What could be the root cause of the earth leakage current fault?
Leakage currents could be due to exposed conductors, improper wiring or in some cases poor quality of electrical equipment. Some electronic devices do emit high leakage currents to the earth and cause faulty / nuisance tripping. It is critical that those devices be identified and appropriate filters be used.
Can you use electricity under some precautions? What are these?
Users can choose to operate the facility with using protective rubber soled footwear where the leakage currents are not over 150 mA. For all other cases it is not recommended to use electricity till the cause of the leakage is identified and isolated.
