Unbalanced Currents Warnings Corrective Plan

Jun 11, 2020 6:28:24 AM / by Ganesh Karbele

Why is POWEReasy showing a warning?

Your site has observed an unbalanced current in the electrical system. IEEE1159 recommends unbalanced currents to be measured within a maximum value of 30%. POWEReasy measures this over a 24 hour period and determines the average unbalance across the entire electrical system connected to the device.

When do you need to fix this and why?

Unbalanced currents are not safe for your electrical system. It leads to excessive current flow in the neutral conductors and overburdening one phase over another. This has an impact on the efficiency of the entire electrical system. The increased current in neutral can further lead to overheating of the neutral conductor and eventually a neutral fault condition. Having the unbalanced currents fixed at your next weekly shutdown is advisable.
