Why did POWEReasy trip?

The site has observed an extremely high voltage spike. These spikes that occur for 10s of microseconds to a few milliseconds are called voltage surges. UL1499 recommends a Type 3 surge protection at the DB. POWEReasy is already equipped with a much more advanced Type 2 surge protection. However there was an instance of a voltage surge that could impart high energy than the protection capability of a type 3 or a type 2 surge protection device. This energy is sufficient to damage critical electronic equipment and even lead to electrical fires. POWEReasy has cuts off supply as a precautionary measure to avoid both these critical issues.

What could be the root cause of the voltage surge fault?

Voltage surges are most often caused due to poor local earthing. High voltage surges appear when when an lightning strike is not sufficiently well dissipated to the earth. An audit report from POWEReasy can help analyze any dependency on external factors such as weather.

Can you use electricity under some precautions? What are these?

Surges are normally observed for short durations. You can restart the POWEReasy system and
