Critical Undervoltage Fault Corrective Plan

Why did POWEReasy trip?

The site observed an extremely low voltage event. IEEE1159 standard recommends fast protection in case of voltages that are less than 184V. These undervoltage conditions can damage expensive equipment. In some cases under volatge events can lead to high currents that may cause fires. POWEReasy has disconnected the supply to prevent both of these unwanted outcomes.

What could be the root cause of the undervoltage fault?

Critical undervoltage faults are most often caused due to poor power quality from the electricity supplier. In some cases these faults can also be caused due to poor wiring quality. An audit report from POWEReasy can help analyze the root cause for this electrical type of electrical faults.

Can you use electricity under some precautions? What are these?

It is OK to operate the facility for 30min to 1 hour under low voltage conditions by temporarily disabling the undervoltage fault tripping. However, precautions must be taken to avoid using all expensive and critical equipment's. While operating the system in the case of undervoltage some equipment's may not work. Users must also monitor the currents to ensure that they do no exceed system ratings.
